  • Dr. Kenya Guarnieri is a dual-licensed psychologist (Licensed Psychologist and School Psychologist) with more than 14 years of experience and a Ph.D. from the University of Northern Colorado, where she specialized in pediatric traumatic brain injury and research methods. Dr. G founded Closer Horizons to provide a safe, affirming space where neurodiverse children, teens, and young adults—and their families—gain clarity, practical strategies, and hope. Her clinical approach combines thorough, strengths-based evaluations with counseling and targeted skills training for ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression and learning differences. Dr. G focuses on helping each client understand their unique differences, build confidence, and use tools that work at home, at school, and in their relationships. Alongside her practice, Dr. G teaches a graduate assessment course at Bellarmine University. Outside the office, she is a wife and mom who enjoys hiking, long walks with her husband, and learning new skills with their kids — often with their rescue poodle, Buster, in tow.

  • Dr. Michael Jenkins is a psychologist with more than 12 years of experience serving adolescents and adults. A board-certified assessment specialist, he conducts in-depth psychological evaluations to enhance self-understanding, clarify factors contributing to daily challenges, and provide evidence-based recommendations that support meaningful, lasting change. He maintains a collaborative approach throughout the assessment process, helping clients recognize strengths, identify areas for growth, and determine relevant diagnoses when appropriate. Dr. Jenkins delivers comprehensive, clearly written reports and provides therapeutic feedback focused on practical next steps. His areas of focus include psychological disorders, ADHD, learning difficulties, and neurodiverse conditions. Outside the office, Dr. Jenkins enjoys playing the guitar, trail running, and honing his home-improvement skills—interests that keep him grounded and bring balance to his work.

  • Clinical Practicum Student | Resource Coordinator

Scarlett Hatton is a graduate student at Bellarmine University, currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. She has advanced to a Level II practicum student/intern and provides clinical services under the close supervision of Dr. G.

Scarlett brings valuable experience as a Registered Behavior Technician, supporting children and adolescents with autism, and her clinical interests remain centered on neurodivergent individuals across the lifespan. At Closer Horizons, she works with clients ranging in age from 5 to 55 and completes intake appointments, therapy sessions, and assessment support under supervision. Her clinical style closely reflects the strengths-based, compassionate, and practical approach used at Closer Horizons.

Scarlett also continues to observe Dr. G in sessions and partners with individuals and families to identify supportive community resources. She can share practical tools—such as articles, videos, and evidence-informed strategies—that build on the work clients are doing in therapy and encourage continued growth and skill-building outside of the clinic.

Outside of clinical training, Scarlett enjoys movie nights with her family and spending time oil painting.
