Evaluations
See the Whole Picture: A Strengths-Focused Approach to Evaluation
When a child or teen is struggling at school, melting down at home, or having a hard time with peers, it can feel like you’re guessing. Maybe teachers have suggested “getting testing,” or a private school is asking for an updated evaluation—but you still don’t have clear answers or a plan.
At Closer Horizons, our comprehensive, strengths-based evaluations do more than list scores or labels. We help you understand why your child, teen, or young adult is struggling and what specific supports will actually help at school, at home, and in the community.
Types of Evaluations Offered
Psychoeducational evaluations (learning differences, dyslexia, reading/writing/math disorders)
ADHD & executive functioning evaluations
Autism / neurodiversity-focused evaluations
Anxiety, depression, and mood-related evaluations
School re-evaluations and documentation updates (for IEPs, 504 plans, private school and college supports)
A strengths-based evaluation can help your family:
Understand how your child learns and processes information
Document concerns related to learning differences, ADHD, autism, anxiety, or depression
Get the right accommodations and services (IEP, 504 Plan, private school supports, or college disability services)
Have a clear report you can bring to school and providers so you don’t have to keep starting from scratch
Foster your child, teen, or young adult’s confidence, self-awareness, and independence by highlighting strengths—not just challenges and differences
Whether your child is navigating learning differences, anxiety, depression, ADHD, or autism, we provide clear, compassionate evaluations that explain the “why” behind their challenges while also highlighting their unique strengths and gifts.
