Yes. I specialize in ages 3–21, and I also work with young adults up to age 25. For clients over 25, I’m happy to provide local referrals.

Groups meet weekly for 60 minutes (about 40–45 active minutes + a short break), with 4–5 participants per group, and run in 6-week cycles. Topics include emotion identification, regulation, communication, and—for advanced participants—grief, life transitions, and strengths-based coping.

We tailor curricula to the group’s needs and draw from evidence-based programs such as You Are a Social Detective, Social Thinking, and Unstuck & On Target. We regularly incorporate updated resources as appropriate.

Yes. Unless there have been significant academic or emotional changes, we won’t charge a second intake fee between consecutive cycles.

We’ll begin with a brief phone call. If it’s a good fit, we’ll schedule an intake to clarify goals and set testing dates. After testing, most results meetings are held about six weeks after the testing session, depending on the scope of the evaluation.

Comprehensive psychoeducational and neurodiversity-affirming evaluations to answer questions about learning differences, ADHD, autism, anxiety, and related needs. We also complete re-evaluations to update diagnoses and to support eligibility for 504 Plans, IEPs, and college disability services.

Yes. We provide recommendations and documentation that schools and universities may use to consider accommodations (504/IEP or college disability services). We can also create letters summarizing relevant findings for ACT/SAT or course accommodations when indicated.

You’ll receive a strengths-based, plain-language report with clear next steps for home and school. We’ll meet to review results, answer questions, and map out an actionable plan. Follow-up consults are available.

We schedule developmentally appropriate blocks with movement breaks, snacks, and pacing that keeps your child engaged. We provide sensory supports (e.g., fidgets, noise-reducing options) and honor communication preferences.

It depends on your goals. For school planning and insurance purposes, families often update data every 3 years or during key transitions (e.g., middle school, high school, college). We’ll recommend a timeline that fits your situation.

Skills training (30 minutes) is focused, coaching-style practice on targeted skills (e.g., executive functioning or coping tools). Counseling dives deeper into thoughts, feelings, and patterns that may be contributing to feelings of insecurity or sadness. Skills training and counseling sessions can be paired when appropriate.

Yes, we offer counseling, skills coaching and parent consultation virtually in over 40 states. Some testing may be done remotely using the Via (by Presence) platform, but it is typically completed in person.

Virtually, and in our Louisville office. Groups may be on-site at partner organizations or in our office.

Payment is due at the time of service. For group programs, tuition is typically paid weekly or in a bundle for the full 6-week cycle.

Not at this time. We are a private-pay practice. We can provide a superbill for potential out-of-network reimbursement. See the Rates & Payment page for details.

Yes. We accept HSA/FSA and credit/debit payments via our Venmo storefront @Closerhorizons. We also accept cash and checks made out to Kenya Guarnieri.

Please provide 24 business hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows may be billed up to the full session fee so we can preserve availability for other families.

To support your child’s best performance, parents/guardians typically do not remain in the room during testing or groups unless clinically indicated. We welcome brief check-ins and will keep you informed.

We are not a crisis center. If you or your child are in crisis, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. You can also contact the 988 Lifeline for immediate support.

Any previous evaluations, IEP/504 plans, relevant medical or school records, glasses/hearing aids, snacks/water, and any comfort items your child finds regulating.

We can complete forms that align with our evaluation findings and clinical role. Turnaround times and form-completion fees may apply.

Yes. We keep a small supply of low-cost sensory and organization items (e.g., fidgets, kinetic sand, notebooks) available for purchase to support carryover at home.

Yes. Upon request (and routinely for new clients), we provide a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges.
